Tiny Freys (Toddlers) enjoy a play and learn atmosphere with toys, books, and play equipment that stimulates the learning process.
Pre-School children benefit from a centered based play, preparing children for our world around us, which follows the HighScope Curriculum. We have two Pre-school classrooms:
Pre-K 1 (younger preschool) and Pre-K 2 (older preschool).
School age childcare is available at H.C. Burgard Elementary school, located in the Manheim Central Schoool District. This program is for children in grades K-6 and follows the school year calendar. We have our own classroom at Burgard as well as access to the school cafeteria, playground, and computer lab. Children from Stiegel and Doe Run Elementary schools are bussed to and from our program.
Small Freys also offers a complete summer program for school age children. We are a licensed summer camp, providing recreational and enrichment opportunities, along with weekly field trips and visits to the Manheim Community Pool.
At both Small Freys and Manheim Central's After School Program...
Observations are done on a consistent basis and assessments provided to parents three times a year. Parent/Teacher Conferences are offered twice a year.
Our Staff
Dedicated individuals provide childcare in our center, utilizing their experiences within the fields of early childhood, child development and human services. On-going training is required, beyond the state regulations, in accordance with our Keystone Stars designation. Upon visiting our center, parents can read about recent staff trainings as well getting to know staff better by reading staff bios.
All of our classrooms have teachers with at least 24 hours of DPW training a year. They are certified in Pediatric First Aid/CPR. Weekly lesson plans are posted on each classroom door.
